All hail molasses chocolate crinkles. These cookies have been a holiday staple in my house since childhood. You can’t go wrong with a spicy molasses cookie, especially with the addition of chocolate chips and a dusting of sugar. Pro tip: my sister and husband both love these cookies frozen, so try sticking them in your freezer for a chilly and delicious treat!
Ingredients
¾ cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 egg
¼ cup molasses
1 tsp cloves
2 tsps cinnamon
1 tsp ginger
2 tsps baking soda
½ tsp salt
2 cups flour
1 package chocolate chips
½ cup granulated sugar in an extra bowl
Directions
Preheat oven to 350° F. Cream butter, sugar, and molasses together. Add egg. Then slowly incorporate dry ingredients and spices. Once the batter is firm add chocolate chips and chill in the refrigerator for one hour. Spoon batter into 1-inch balls and bake at 350° F for 15 minutes.
Immediately coat in granulated sugar when cookies are hot from the oven. Let cool and enjoy. Try them frozen for a chilly treat.
