One of the best things about writing a long running series is that over time Torte’s staff has expanded, just like it would in the real world. This recipe comes from Bethany who is a newer addition to the bakeshop. She got her start by baking and hand-delivering decedent and delicious brownies. These aren’t your typical boxed brownies. Bethany definitely embraces Torte’s artisan approach to pastries and likes to push the envelope with unique and unexpected flavors, like these Sriracha brownies. Because chocolate and heat are a marriage made in heaven and, depending on how spicy you like your sweets, you can dial up the Sriracha. 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️

Sriracha Brownies
Ingredients:
½ cup butter
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
2 tbsps Sriracha honey (or more to your personal taste and extra to drizzle over brownies)
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
½ cup flour
¾ tsp salt
½ tsp baking powder
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350° F. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Once melted, removed from heat and whisk in sugar, eggs, vanilla, and Sriracha honey. Stir in cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder. Coat an 8 x 8 square pan with baking spray. Spread batter evenly. Drizzle with more Sriracha honey. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until a toothpick comes clean in the center. Allow to cool. Cut into squares, top with powdered sugar or more Sriracha honey (optional) and enjoy!
