Writing
Showcase

the rules

Have you ever wanted to write your own ending or shape a new narrative? That's the theme of my standalone novel Lost Coast Literary and the inspiration for my first writing showcase, which will feature you and your writing.

Here's how it will work:

I've written three short story starts—a mystery, a romance, and something a bit open-ended with a touch of magic. Pick the story that resonates most with you and finish it. It's that simple. Where the story takes us next is entirely up to you. Perhaps your story will wrap up nicely with a neat and tidy bow. Or maybe your ending will leave us wanting more. That's the magic of storytelling. We each bring our own voice and lens to the page. Tap into your creativity. Let words be your guide.

I am so amazed how, after completing each of Ellie's lessons, how easily the words flow each day when I sit down to write. Knowing my characters more in-depth and having arcs for each of them has been a huge help.

What my course students are saying

Each of your steps in your course has made my brain go the right direction. I haven’t stopped creatively writing for myself since October 2020. I’m 63 and I’ve been waiting to do this since I was 15 years old.

What my course students are saying

It has definitely given me tools to help me! I didn’t start writing until I was “ supposed” to according to the course. I’m sure if have issues with my layering/editing & adding to the “middle” of my story, it will be in the other lessons I haven’t reached. I’ve tried to follow the course exactly as it is laid out.

What my course students are saying

Learning the steps. I really had no idea there was a system to it. I feel like I am so knowledgeable now. Books not done but it is sure on its way. I watched the first ten or so lessons over and over.

What my course students are saying

Between the course and the community of practice group, I definitely feel like the majority of my challenges are being solved. The Facebook community of Practice group serves as a safe place to share comments and ideas and solicit feedback from both my peers and the instructor. The Community of Practice group also helps me feel less isolated. It is also reaffirming that we are not alone in our writing journey. The combination of the masterclass and writing cohort community of practice group has proven to be the solution to solving my writing challenges, and I look forward to a long and prosperous writing community.

What my course students are saying

The lessons, worksheets, resources, 'Live' sessions, have helped tremendously. I know my characters so much better. I use a calendar and timeline for pacing and moving the plot forward. I have a notebook for chapter fixes and follow-ups. Recently, I've started the first edit of my draft with my critique group.

What my course students are saying

“This masterclass and this group is EVERYTHING! Thank you so much! I can't even articulate how much it all helped. I could not have done it without you!"

Paula S.

What my course students are saying

"Great course! I have been struggling to write a murder mystery for a long time. This course walks you through each step so I now know how to proceed to complete my mystery along with guidance to turn a first draft into an edited manuscript. I highly recommend this course to anyone that has dreams of writing a mystery novel.”

Kathleen C.

What my course students are saying

"Ellie’s Masterclass is teaching me at my pace since we all have different schedules, motivational, and just what I needed to become an aspiring writer."

Sabina O.

What my course students are saying

As a result of taking this course, I feel like the cozy mystery idea that I had been thinking about but didn't know where to start has a definitive goal and purpose now. By following her steps, participants are well on their way to completing a book. Thank you Ellie!”
