New Book – Going Rogue

Going rogue.⁣

When we moved to the Rogue Valley, we were ready for a complete lifestyle shift. My husband, who you know as the Tech Guy, had been working in tech, commuting in soul-crushing traffic over an hour each way, and working 10 to 12 hour days. So we made a choice. Give up his stable, steady income, sell our house, and move to Ashland, the place we had fallen in love with on vacation and research trips for my books. It was scary. It was the best choice we’ve ever made.⁣

For the last few years, we’ve been freelancing together, ignoring the old wisdom that you should never work with people you love. So I’m curious about your thoughts about family businesses? I think it’s time to ban that old adage. Ashland is filled with family businesses, spouses, partners, generations, friends, and neighbors working together. For our family going rogue has been a great match. It just so happens that the Tech Guy and I have very different skill sets that complement each other. That’s not to say that there aren’t challenges in finding our own way, but partnering on creative projects and building off of each other’s ideas is such fun. Plus, brainstorming sessions on our deck with beers every now and then isn’t so bad either. ⁣

That’s why I’m excited to share that one of our new joint ventures is launching soon—Sweet Lemon Press, a nod to our prolific lemon tree and mutual love of words. We’ll be kicking it off by re-releasing my very first book, a memoir, then a novel, and then a variety of new projects. Maybe even some of yours in the future. ⁣
